Ingredients

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • Optional: Dried oregano or Italian seasoning

Instructions

Prepare the Tortillas

  • Lay the tortillas flat on a clean surface. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on one half of each tortilla. Keep the sauce away from the very edges.

Add the Cheesy Filling

  • Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Arrange the mini pepperoni slices on top of the cheese. Sprinkle a pinch of Italian seasoning if you like extra flavor.

Fold the Tortillas

  • Fold the dry side of the tortilla over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press down gently with your hand to make sure it stays folded and compact.

Cook Until Golden

  • Heat the butter or oil in your skillet over medium heat. Place the tortillas in the pan. Cook each side for about 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Remove the golden pizzadillas from the skillet. Let them sit for one minute so the cheese sets. Use a knife or pizza cutter to slice them into wedges. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Use a cast-iron skillet for an extra crispy and golden tortilla crust.
  • Add cooked sausage or bacon for a meatier version of this snack. If you are using sausage and want to stretch that into a full Italian-style dinner, you might also enjoy this layered pasta bake with rich meat sauce that uses many of the same flavors.
  • Include chopped bell peppers, onions or mushrooms for extra veggie nutrition.
  • Dip the finished pizzadilla in warm marinara sauce or ranch dressing.
  • Try using flavored tortillas like spinach or sun-dried tomato for a twist.
