Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Activate the Yeast

  • Mix warm milk, yeast, and a little sugar in a bowl. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes foamy. This means the yeast is active and ready.

Make the Dough

  • Add flour, salt, melted butter, and egg into the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead it for about 5–7 minutes until smooth.

Let the Dough Rise

  • Place the dough in a bowl and cover it. Let it rest for 1 hour in a warm place. It should double in size.

Prepare the Filling

  • Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Spread softened butter on a flat surface for easy filling.

Roll the Dough

  • Roll the dough into a large rectangle using a rolling pin. Keep it even and smooth for better shaping.

Add Filling

  • Spread butter over the dough. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly on top. Make sure every part is covered.

Shape the Rolls

  • Roll the dough tightly from one side. Cut it into even slices using a sharp knife.

Second Rise

  • Place the rolls in a baking tray. Cover and let them rise for 20 minutes. This makes them soft and fluffy.

Bake the Rolls

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 18–20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

Add Icing

  • Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over warm rolls for a sweet finish.

Notes

  • Use warm milk, not hot milk
  • Do not over-knead the dough
  • Add nuts for crunch
  • Use cream cheese frosting for richer taste
  • Let dough rise fully for soft rolls
  • Add raisins for extra sweetness
