Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup pepper jelly
  • 24 buttery round crackers
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 24 small fresh parsley leaves optional

Instructions

Soften the Cream Cheese

  • Remove the cream cheese from the refrigerator about 20 minutes before preparing. Let it soften naturally at room temperature. Soft cream cheese spreads smoothly without breaking the crackers.

Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture

  • Place the softened cream cheese into a small bowl. Add honey and black pepper. Stir gently until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy with an even texture.

Prepare the Crackers

  • Arrange the crackers in a single layer on a serving platter. Leave a little space between them so each bite is easy to pick up and serve.

Add the Cream Cheese

  • Spread a small spoonful of the cream cheese mixture over each cracker. Keep the layer even and avoid adding too much. A balanced amount makes each bite easier to eat.

Add the Pepper Jelly

  • Spoon a small amount of pepper jelly over the cream cheese. Let it sit naturally without spreading too much. The bright jelly should remain visible on top of the creamy layer.

Add the Pecans

  • Sprinkle finely chopped pecans over each bite. The nuts add a pleasant crunch and slightly rich flavor. Use a small amount so they do not overpower the pepper jelly.

Add Fresh Herbs

  • Sprinkle chopped parsley over the bites. You can also place one tiny parsley leaf on each appetizer. The fresh green color creates a beautiful contrast with the red jelly.

Chill Briefly

  • Place the prepared bites in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes if desired. Chilling helps the cream cheese firm slightly and makes the appetizers easier to serve.

Serve Fresh

  • Transfer the platter directly to the table. Serve the bites while the crackers remain crisp. Encourage guests to enjoy them soon after assembly for the best texture.

Notes

  • Use full-fat cream cheese for the creamiest texture.
  • Soften cream cheese before spreading.
  • Choose sturdy crackers that will not break easily.
  • Use your favorite pepper jelly.
  • Add extra jelly for a sweeter bite.
  • Choose mild jelly for less heat.
  • Add chopped walnuts instead of pecans.
  • Try goat cheese for a tangier variation.
  • Add fresh thyme instead of parsley.
  • Use toasted baguette slices instead of crackers.
  • Add a small piece of fresh jalapeno for extra heat.
  • Assemble close to serving time for crisp crackers.
