  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

Preheat and Prep Pans

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Grease pans. Line bottoms with parchment. Dust with flour. Tap out extra.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, soda, salt in large bowl. All lumps gone.

Add Wet Ingredients

  • Beat in eggs, milk, oil, vanilla. Mix until smooth. No dry spots remain.

Stir in Boiling Water

  • Pour boiling water slowly. Batter thins out. That's perfect. Don't worry!

Bake Cake Layers

  • Divide batter evenly. Bake 25-30 minutes. Toothpick clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes.

Cool Completely

  • Turn onto racks. Peel parchment. Cool fully. About 1 hour each.

Make Filling Base

  • Whisk flour and milk in saucepan. Cook medium heat. Stir until thick pudding.

Cool Filling Base

  • Remove heat. Stir vanilla. Cool to room temp. Cover with plastic touching surface.

Whip Creamy Filling

  • Beat butter and sugar fluffy. 4 minutes high. Add cooled milk mix slowly. Beat fluffy.

Assemble Cake

  • Place one layer on plate. Spread all filling thick. Top with second layer. Press gentle.

Make Chocolate Glaze

  • Heat cream just boiling. Pour over chocolate. Let sit 2 minutes. Stir smooth glossy.

Glaze the Cake

  • Pour glaze over top. Spread edges with spatula. Let drip down sides. Chill 30 minutes.
