Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup tomato paste no salt added
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp chipotle powder adjust for heat
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1 fresh jalapeño seeded and chopped (optional)

Instructions
 

Gather Ingredients

  • Measure all ingredients first. Chop jalapeño if using. Set aside in bowls. Keeps things smooth.

Heat the Base

  • In saucepan, add tomato paste and water. Stir over medium heat until smooth. About 2 minutes.

Add Sweet and Tangy

  • Mix in brown sugar and vinegar. Stir well. Cook 3 minutes. Sugar melts fully.

Spice It Up

  • Add smoked paprika, chipotle, garlic, onion powders, cumin, cayenne, salt, pepper. Stir constantly. Cook 5 minutes. Smells amazing!

Boost the Flavor

  • Pour in Worcestershire and liquid smoke. Add chopped jalapeño. Simmer 8 minutes. Thickens nicely.

Blend Smooth

  • Remove from heat. Cool 5 minutes. Blend until silky. Strain if you want extra smooth.

Taste and Cool

  • Taste sauce. Adjust salt or heat. Let cool completely. Ready to jar up!

  • Wear gloves with peppers. Avoid hand burn!
