Ingredients

  • 140 g plain flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 200 ml milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil or beef dripping

Instructions

Prepare the Batter

  • Add flour and salt into a mixing bowl. Crack in the eggs and whisk slowly. Pour milk gradually while mixing. Keep whisking until smooth. The batter should be lump-free and light. Let it rest for at least 20 minutes.

Heat the Oven and Tray

  • Preheat your oven to a very high temperature, around 220°C. Add oil or beef dripping into each section of the tray. Place the tray in the oven until the oil becomes very hot and slightly smoking.

Pour the Batter Carefully

  • Take the hot tray out of the oven quickly but safely. Pour the batter evenly into each section. Do not overfill. The hot oil helps the pudding rise properly. This step is very important for the Mary Berry Yorkshire Pudding Recipe success.

Bake Until Golden

  • Place the tray back into the oven immediately. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Do not open the oven door while baking. The puddings will rise and turn golden brown. They should look puffed and crispy on top.

Serve Hot and Fresh

  • Remove the Yorkshire puddings carefully from the tray. Serve them immediately while hot. They taste best fresh from the oven. You can enjoy them with gravy, roast beef or vegetables.

Notes

    • Always use a very hot oven for best rise
    • Rest the batter for smoother texture
    • Use beef dripping for traditional flavor
    • Do not open oven during baking
    • Try mini versions in muffin trays
    • Add herbs for extra flavor twist
