Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold butter cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter for brushing

Instructions

Prepare Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Stir well so everything is evenly combined.

Add Cold Butter

  • Add cold butter cubes into the flour mixture. Use fingers or a pastry cutter to mix until it looks crumbly.

Add Milk

  • Slowly pour in milk. Mix gently until soft dough forms. Do not overmix or biscuits may become hard.

Knead the Dough

  • Lightly knead the dough on a clean surface. Do this for only 1–2 minutes until smooth and soft.

Roll the Dough

  • Roll the dough to about 1-inch thickness. Keep it even for uniform biscuit size.

Cut the Biscuits

  • Use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut round shapes. Place them on a baking tray.

Bake the Biscuits

  • Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake for 12–15 minutes until biscuits are golden on top.

Brush with Butter

  • Remove from oven and brush melted butter on top. This makes them soft and shiny.

Notes

  • Use cold butter for flaky texture
  • Do not overwork the dough
  • Add cheese for savory flavor
  • Add honey for slight sweetness
  • Use buttermilk for richer taste
  • Serve warm for best texture
