Ingredients

  • 20 large mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

Clean the Mushrooms

  • Gently wipe mushrooms with a clean cloth. Remove stems carefully without breaking the caps. Set caps aside for stuffing later.

Prepare the Filling Base

  • Heat olive oil and butter in a pan. Add chopped onion and garlic. Cook until soft and lightly golden in color.

Chop Mushroom Stems

  • Finely chop the mushroom stems you removed earlier. Add them to the pan and cook until moisture disappears.

Mix Cream Cheese

  • Lower heat and add cream cheese into the pan. Stir slowly until it melts and becomes smooth and creamy.

Add Dry Ingredients

  • Mix in breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, thyme and parsley. Stir until everything combines into a thick filling.

Taste the Filling

  • Taste the mixture carefully. Adjust salt or pepper if needed. The filling should be rich and slightly thick.

Prepare Baking Tray

  • Lightly grease the baking tray with oil or butter. This prevents mushrooms from sticking during baking.

Fill Mushroom Caps

  • Spoon the prepared mixture into each mushroom cap. Fill generously but do not overflow too much.

Arrange on Tray

  • Place stuffed mushrooms neatly on the baking tray. Leave small space between each mushroom for even cooking.

Bake Mushrooms

  • Preheat oven to 180°C. Bake mushrooms for 20–25 minutes until tops are golden and slightly crispy.

Cool Slightly

  • Remove from oven and let them cool for 5 minutes. This helps flavors settle inside.

Serve Warm

  • Serve warm as a starter or snack. Garnish with extra parsley if you like fresh flavor.

Notes

  • Add chopped spinach for extra nutrition
  • Use mozzarella for extra cheesiness
  • Add cooked bacon for smoky flavor
  • Use gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed
  • Do not overbake mushrooms
  • Use fresh herbs for better taste
  • Make filling ahead for easy prep
