- 4 cups fresh watermelon strawberries, or mango
- 4 cups cold water
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 2 to 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 cup ice cubes
- Lime slices for serving
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
Prepare the Fresh Fruit
Wash the fruit well before cutting it. Remove seeds, stems or tough skin as needed. Cut the fruit into small pieces. Smaller pieces blend faster and create a smoother drink.
Add the Fruit to the Blender
Place the prepared fruit into your blender. Add two cups of cold water. Blend everything until the mixture becomes smooth and evenly combined.
Add Lime Juice and Sugar
Pour in the fresh lime juice. Add two tablespoons of sugar first. Blend briefly and taste the mixture. Add more sugar if your fruit needs extra sweetness.
Strain the Fruit Mixture
Place a fine-mesh strainer over a large pitcher. Slowly pour the blended mixture through it. Press gently with a spoon to remove extra liquid.
Add the Remaining Water
Pour the remaining cold water into the pitcher. Stir well with a wooden spoon. Taste the agua fresca and adjust the sweetness if needed.
Chill and Serve
Add ice cubes to the pitcher or serving glasses. Pour the fruit agua fresca over the ice. Garnish each glass with lime slices or fresh mint.
Enjoy It Fresh
Serve the drink immediately for the brightest flavor. You can also chill it for several hours. Stir well before serving because natural fruit particles may settle.
Add the Fruit to the Blender
- Choose ripe fruit because it gives the drink better natural sweetness.
- Use cold water for a refreshing drink without waiting for chilling.
- Add sugar slowly because some fruits are already very sweet.
- Fresh lime juice gives the best bright and clean flavor.
- Strain the drink for a smoother texture.
- Leave the mixture unstrained if you enjoy more fruit texture.
- Use sparkling water for a fun and fizzy version.
- Try watermelon for a light and juicy drink.
- Use strawberries for a sweet and slightly tangy flavor.
- Try mango for a rich and tropical version.
- Pineapple works well when you want a sharper fruit flavor.
- Add a few mint leaves for extra freshness.
