Ingredients

  • 1 bottle chilled Champagne or sparkling wine
  • 3 cups chilled fresh orange juice
  • 1 orange sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 tablespoon orange liqueur optional
  • Ice for chilling ingredients before serving

Instructions

Chill the Ingredients

  • Place the Champagne and orange juice in the refrigerator several hours before serving. Cold ingredients create a fresher drink. Avoid adding ice directly to the glasses, as melting ice can weaken the flavor.

Prepare the Orange Juice

  • Freshly squeeze your oranges for the best taste. Strain the juice if you prefer a smoother drink. Pour it into a chilled pitcher and keep it refrigerated until you are ready to serve.

Prepare the Glasses

  • Place Champagne flutes in the refrigerator for about fifteen minutes. Chilled glasses help the drink stay cold. They also make the final presentation feel more elegant and festive.

Add Orange Juice

  • Pour about half a glass of chilled orange juice into each flute. Do not fill the glasses too much. Leave enough room for sparkling wine and bubbles.

Add Orange Liqueur

  • Add a small splash of orange liqueur if desired. This adds deeper citrus flavor and a slightly sweeter taste. You can skip this ingredient for a simpler, lighter mimosa.

Pour in the Champagne

  • Slowly pour chilled Champagne into each glass. Pour along the side of the flute to control the foam. Stop when the glass is nearly full and the bubbles reach the top.

Garnish and Serve

  • Add a thin orange slice to each glass. Serve the mimosas immediately while they are cold and bubbly. Encourage guests to enjoy them slowly while the sparkling texture remains fresh.

Notes

  • Use freshly squeezed orange juice whenever possible.
  • Chill the juice and sparkling wine before serving.
  • Pour the sparkling wine slowly to prevent excess foam.
  • Avoid adding ice directly to finished mimosas.
  • Choose a dry sparkling wine for balanced sweetness.
  • Use blood orange juice for a beautiful ruby color.
  • Try grapefruit juice for a sharper citrus flavor.
  • Add a small splash of peach juice for a fruity variation.
  • Garnish with fresh berries for a colorful brunch presentation.
  • Keep unopened sparkling wine chilled until needed.
